Hot on the heels of Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ campaign, the team at Get Berkshire Active are seeking 10 local women to join a ThisGirlCanRun10 team and complete the Boudavida Women’s 10k in Windsor Great Park on September 24 (formerly the Running4Women Windsor 10k).
All runners will receive free entry, coaching, free sportswear from Boudavida – the race’s new title sponsor – along with a goody bag from the event’s nutritional partner, Meridian. They’ll also have the chance to share their stories to inspire other local women to take up running.
The goal is to find 10 women, of varying ages and fitness levels, to join over 1,000 others on Saturday September 24, as they unite on the Long Walk of Windsor Great Park to enjoy one of the most scenic all-female 10k runs in the UK.
If you’re interested in being one of the selected 10, please send no more than 200 words explaining why you’d be a good member of the ThisGirlCanRun10 team, along with an image of yourself to firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries need to be submitted by August 15, 2016 and the team will be announced on August 22, 2016.
Commenting on the initiative, Kirsty Heath, Senior Partnership Manager at Get Berkshire Active said: “We’re delighted to be associated with the Boudavida Women’s 10k, Windsor, because it’s such an inclusive event, appealing to a really broad range of women, from competitive runners through to those taking part in their very first 10k.
“Whether participants want to walk, jog or run the course, it’s all about taking part together and celebrating physical activity. We hope our ThisGirlCanRun10 runners will be a great example to inspire women all over the County to pull on a pair of trainers and start running with friends.”
Set in the picturesque grounds of Windsor Great Park and run completely on closed roads, the race is part of the Windsor Running Festival. It’s anticipated that over a thousand women will complete the scenic 10k route, which ends with a fabulous final run along the iconic ‘Long Walk’ towards Windsor Castle.
Registration for the run is at www.running4women.com.
