Here at the Boudavida HQ we are big fans of making the most of seasonal produce, but how many of you know what’s in season and at its best in November and December?
There are many benefits to eating seasonal food, but we have listed our top three reasons below:
Taste – when fruit and vegetables are picked at their optimum time and in its preferred weather, you can guarantee that it will taste its very best.
Cost – when an ingredient is in season, it normally means that there is a lot of it! This usually results in lower prices so that farmers can avoid being left over with surplus.
Nutrition – not only does it taste better, but as it is grown at its optimum time it will be at its nutritional peak.
In all seasons, we recommend getting creative. Let the natural backdrop of spring, summer, autumn and winter be your guide to mealtimes.
We’ve done the hard work for you for November and December, and listed below which fruits and vegetables will be at their best during the November/December months:
So, why not try a baked apple for pudding (delicious stuffed with mincemeat)? Or perhaps go for a root vegetable roast?
The possibilities are endless and oh-so-tasty….
